About

Nikki established Holloway Literary in October 2011, after receiving a B.A. in English, interning with the Carolina Hurricanes, NASCAR and the NC Governor’s Office and finally working in the marketing communications field for several years as a writer and editor for civilian and government clients. Deciding she wanted to align her professional career with her lifelong passion of reading and writing, she interned with a literary agency for a year and then began representing a small group of women’s fiction and romance authors.

Nikki is currently looking for:

  • Contemporary romance (Special interest in seasonal, sports-themes, military/ special forces, small town, foodie themes, romantic suspense, coastal themes and southern themes. No category.)
  • Literary or food-based cozy mysteries
  • Female-driven thrillers in the vein of television shows like Covert AffairsScandal, Quantico, Homeland and Orphan Black
  • Southern fiction, especially stories with a North Carolina setting
  • Magical realism
  • African-American fiction (Literary, historical, upmarket, commercial, women’s fiction, no romance)
  • Well-written gritty military or political thrillers
  • Literary fiction exploring themes of womanhood, racial identity and conflict (African-American and African diaspora) and military/war/combat (historical and contemporary). Stories set in the Southern US, especially NC, VA and New Orleans, and during the Civil War
  • Non-fiction on mindfulness

Instructions

Email a brief query and the first 15 pages of your manuscript pasted in the body of your email to submissions @ hollowayliteraryagency.com In the email subject header, write: Nikki/Title/Genre. You can expect a response in 4 to 6 weeks.
